It has been over a month since I last wrote - so this will be a big update!
Ali flew to Atlanta for inspection of our truck and to learn to use all the equipment on it - there are so many details and do's and don'ts that it was a great idea he did. Plus, we got to see the truck before it arrived to DC and we were able to add a couple of missing details.
Since then, we were hit with a couple of snow storms and that unforgettable polar vortex - or better said, vortexes - which put us back a couple of weeks. Nobody was willing to make the trip from Atlanta to DC with the terrible weather - and it was probably best we didn't insist on it - the roads in Atlanta were terrible and full of accidents.
On Monday, we made a couple of phone calls and received the good news that finally transportation companies were getting back on the road. Wednesday we made the deposit to the transportation company and were told it would be here next week. To our surprise, it was picked up Thursday and arrived yesterday at exactly 1:07 PM.
Brian and his godson Ray from KBExpansion Hauling & Shipping called us to say he was five minutes away and you can imagine the excitement - after months of planning and waiting anxiously the day finally came. These guys were awesome and so excited for us. Simply great people. Brian's godson Ray is 17 and headed off to Harvard or Yale this year - he graduated high school at 15... wow! Best of wishes to you, Ray, as you head off to college!
A special and HUGE thank you to David Ford and his crew at Food Trucks South who went above and beyond our expectations. If you are reading this and thinking of getting your own food truck feel free to give us a call or email us so we can introduce you to the man who made our dreams come true!
So the big question - when do you open? We went to the health department on Wednesday and we are awaiting inspections in order to be able to hit the road! We are going to take a few days to get the hang of things and we'll be ready to serve you in no time!
Thanks again for all the support throughout this long process - we hope to see you soon!
XO,
-Gaby
P.S. Here is a tiny, tiny, sneak peek at our truck on Brian's trailer... Ali won't let me show you more until after our inauguration!
